Chapter 214

Chapter 214

The carriage arrives in front of the mansion.
squeak
The door of the stationary carriage opened and Baron Veron, a sturdy man in his mid-thirties, stepped out.
“Hmm? Almers?”
Baron Veron stepped down from his carriage and spotted Almers, and cocked his head in question as to why he had come.
“Oh, today’s the day.”
Baron Veron looked at Almus for a moment, then nodded as if remembering, and continued. He looked at the carriage that Almus was pulling and smiled, then back at Almus.
“What are these?”
“It’s a gift.”
Almus smiled at Baron Veron’s comment.
“Ha-ha-ha, thank you!”
Baron Veron smiled broadly at Almus’s words, then looked to Rassel, the butler, and continued.
“Mr. Butler. I’d like you to move these to the warehouse.”
“Yes. My lord.”
Hearing Lascelles’ answer, Baron Veron turned back to Almers and spoke.
“Let’s go in.”
“Yes. Baron.”
Baron Veron and Almus then entered the manor.
“…”
Lascelles frowned as he watched Almus’ back as he entered the manor. Then he turned to look at the caravan of wagons that Almus had brought with him and let out a short sigh.
“Huh. How did that happen?”
* * * * *
Baron Veron’s Chamber.
“How are things going at the top?”
“Yes, it’s going very well, thanks to the Baron’s help.”
Almers replied with a smirk.
“So… what’s going on with that?”
Baron Veron said with a wicked grin. Almus flinched for a moment at Baron Veron’s words, but then he smiled awkwardly and opened his mouth.
“Ha-ha-ha, they’re getting ready. Five days from now… they’ll be here.”
“Five days…”
The Baron’s face began to light up with excitement at Almers’ words, and as he looked at it, Almers thought to himself, “That’s the kind of face I want to see.
“You’re crazy.
Almas was never in Baron Veron’s favor. If it weren’t for the top, he would have cut ties with Baron Veron long ago. No, if he could go back in time, he would never have entered into the relationship at all.
‘If I had known I was crazy… I wouldn’t have done that…’
But it was too late to cut ties.
“Kwink, I’ll see you in five days.”
Baron Veron, his face grotesque with excitement, looked at Almus and said, “I’m sorry. At Baron Veron’s words and expression, Almus quickly rose to his feet.
“Well… I’ll take care of it.”
Rising from his seat, Almers bowed and quickly left the room. Left alone in the room, Baron Veron rose from his seat and walked to his desk.
“Hmph.”
Arriving at the desk, Baron Veron smirked slyly and began to move his hand inside the desk drawer.
Squeak… chirp. chirp
Then I heard something move inside my desk, and the bookshelf right behind me started to move sideways.
“Hmph…”
Withdrawing his hand from the drawer, Baron Veron smirked wickedly and turned back to look at the passageway revealed by the shifting of the bookshelves.
Siaak
A light breeze was blowing through the passageway. Baron Veron stared at the passageway for a moment, then turned and stepped into it.
“Hmph…”
Once inside, Baron Veron took a deep breath, smiled with satisfaction, and pulled the lever next to him.
Profit
He lowered the lever and the bookcase moved again, blocking the entrance. Baron Veron smiled and began to walk inside.
“…hmmm…hmmm.”
“Stu…stu…”
After a while, I started to hear pained breathing from inside.
“Cough, cough, cough.”
Baron Veron heard the breathing and smiled broadly. Baron Veron’s smile was so wide that he was overjoyed, and as he walked inward, he realized that he had reached his destination and stopped walking.
“How are you?”
Baron Veron stopped walking and looked ahead.
“Hmm…hmm…”
“Study…study…”
In front of Baron Veron were two young boys, no more than ten years old. The two boys were not normal, as evidenced by their breathing. Baron Veron looked at the two boys and said.
“If they ask, you have to answer… Do you want to be like your friends?”
Cringe!
The two boys flinched hard at Baron Veron’s words, but that was all they said.
“Hmm…hmm…”
“Study…study…”
All they could do was gasp in pain. Baron Veron furrowed his brow and muttered under his breath.
“Hmmm. I guess not.”
Cringe!
Baron Veron’s mutterings made the two boys flinch once more. Smiling slightly at the boys’ flinching, Baron Veron turned his head to the side. There was a table, and on it was a collection of swords, hammers, and other weapons.
“…Hmph.”
Smiling broadly, Baron Veron walked toward the table. Arriving at the table, Baron Veron looked at the weapons on it and began to ponder.
“An axe would be a good place to start.”
Muttering to himself, Baron Veron reached out and picked up his axe.
Sigh
Picking up his axe, Baron Veron turned and walked back to where the boys were.
“…Hmph. Help me…huh…huh…”
“Please… stop… stop…”
As Baron Veron approached, the boys, who had been gasping in pain, opened their mouths to speak. Baron Veron smiled at their words.
“Hmph.”
Soon arriving in front of the boys, Baron Veron approached the boy on the right.
“Hmph…please…hmph.”
Hearing footsteps and realizing that Baron Veron was approaching him, the boy on the right opened his mouth with difficulty and said, “I’m sorry.
“Hmm.”
Soon arriving in front of the boy on his right, Baron Veron raised his axe and placed it on the boy’s left shoulder.
Cringe!
The boy flinched hard as he felt the feel of the axe blade on his shoulder.
“Hmph.”
Baron Veron smiled happily at the sight of such a boy. Then he began to nudge the axe on his shoulder. The blade of the axe began to dig into the boy’s shoulder.
“Ouch!”
A scream erupted from the boy’s mouth as he struggled to breathe.
“Kahahahaha! More! More!”
The boy’s screams made Baron Veron look like he was going to die of happiness, and he began to move his axe with more force.
Grassroots
At that moment, the boy’s head drooped heavily. Seeing this, Baron Veron frowned and stopped moving his axe. He put his finger to the boy’s nose to see if he was breathing.
“…I’m stunned.”
The boy was still breathing.
“Hmm.”
Baron Veron smiled, relieved that the boy was alive, and turned to his left to look at the boy who had not yet fainted. Realizing it was his turn, the boy began to shake with fear. Baron Veron raised his axe and approached the boy to his left.
“Ouch!”
A scream erupted from the left-hand boy’s mouth, and a moment later, he shook his head, as did the right-hand boy. Baron Veron put his finger to the boy’s nose. Unlike the boy on the right, the boy on the left was not breathing.
“…Hmmm.”
Baron Veron looked at the boy to his left, who shook his head in disappointment, and then, with a look of annoyance on his face, he raised his axe and struck the boy down on the head. As if that wasn’t enough, Baron Veron struck the dead boy again and again. After striking the boy repeatedly, Baron Veron stopped.
Baron Veron stopped chopping and put his axe down. Then he began to undo the chains that bound the dead boy’s body.
Tuck
The chains loosened and the boy fell to the floor. Baron Veron stared at the fallen boy’s body, then smiled, grabbed him by the feet, and began dragging him to a corner.
“Itcha!”
Reaching the corner, Baron Veron looked at the pile of bodies in the corner with a grim expression on his face, and with a shove, he tossed the boy’s body over the top of them. Baron Veron turned back around and approached the unconscious boy to his right, muttering to himself.
“Five days…five days…that’s too long.”
* * * * *
“This is Asren.”
Ming Hu, who had warped to Asren’s warp gate, looked around and muttered.
“First… I guess we should start by investigating the NPCs.”
Ming Hu had gotten a lot of information from the Black Nails, but that didn’t mean he wasn’t going to do some research. Figuring that it would be easier to investigate once he had something to go on, Ming Hu exited the warp gate, saw the signpost, and made his way to the plaza.
“Weapons for sale, come take a look, bargains welcome!”
“We sell all kinds of potions cheap. I even have a status removal potion!”
As expected of such a large city, there weren’t many players in the plaza of Asren. Ming Hu turned his attention away from the players and started looking for an NPC. Not long after he started looking for NPCs, Ming Hu was able to spot an elderly NPC sitting in a chair. Ming Hu immediately approached the old NPC.
That was the moment.
“My lord?”
A voice behind him made Ming Hu stop in his tracks. It was probably a mistake, but just in case, Ming Hu turned to look in the direction of the voice.
“Huh?”
After identifying the voice, Ming Hu was a little surprised. He wondered if he had called the wrong person, but that wasn’t the case. The voice had called Myung-Hoo, and Myung-Hoo knew who the voice was. Ming Hu looked at the voice and said, “I’m Ming Hu.
“Soma? What brings you here?”
