Chapter 305

Chapter 305

[Kaaaah!

Navardoze roared. Her mouth opened, and when she breathed out, a tidal wave of crimson flames poured out.

The flames that could consume a nation in a single blaze engulfed the view. When the flames finally died down, the landscape was as it had been before.

【—Is this the case again.】

She gritted her teeth as she caught her breath. To the left, right, and center, there was not a crack or scorch mark in the pure white space. She’d already made hundreds of attempts to escape, all in vain.

She was cast into this subspace during the battle with Abel. He had used some sort of trick, but I don’t know the details. All I remember is that just as I was about to deliver the final blow, Abel pulled out some sort of stone.

[The children are—dangerous.]

Navarordoze was sobbing. The worry for everyone was unbearable. In this place where nothing existed, it was impossible to tell how much time had passed.

There was no one else on the Allied side who could handle Abel at this point, not without her, and she was tormented by her own weakness. Suddenly, a familiar voice came from below.

“What, you haven’t given up yet?”

【You are—!】

Navarordze lowered his gaze. He saw Abel in all his glory. Missing one limb each, he stood with his sword as a cane.

[Dude!

Without hesitation, she struck with her foot, crushing Abel. Navarordze frowned when she realized she didn’t feel anything. Abel’s voice echoed.

“It’s no use. I’m just an idea, not a real thing. I came to see you just in case, but you’re persistent.”

Then Abel’s form reappeared at Navardozé’s feet. His translucent body, like a spirit, proved his words to be true. “Bang!” cried Navarordze in an angry voice as he trampled Abel once more.

[You, what the hell were you thinking locking me in here!

“It’s a pity you’re so strong. You should be honored that I used the only sealstone I have. It was never meant to be used on you—.”

Abel clicked his tongue; the sealing stone he’d used on Navarordze was actually an item with a separate owner. It was fortunate that Ronan, who had appeared at just the right time, was stronger than expected.

“You’ll never get out of here anyway. You’ll probably be locked up forever if I don’t set you free, but don’t worry too much. I’ll kill you myself as soon as I’m done.”

[Cut the crap and get it out of there!

“I’ll see you soon, then.”

Abel ignored her protests and waved goodbye. His blurred form disappeared completely. Unable to contain her anger, the fire-breathing Navarordje cursed.

[Damn—.】

Navardoze cursed under her breath. Her light-bathed body returned to human form. Slowly, she caught her breath and sat back in her seat.

“Haaaaah—.”

It was miniaturization to conserve energy. Of course, I’d rest a bit and then resume my escape attempt, but by this point, I was starting to realize that Abel might be right.

“Is it really—does it have to be like this?”

In all the years she’d lived, she’d never been in a crisis like this. As she was imagining the worst possible future, a black horizontal line appeared in the white space before her. Suddenly, a black horizontal line streaked across the white space in front of her.

“Hmm?”

Navarordze raised an eyebrow at a phenomenon he’d never seen before. The horizontal line stopped only after it had completely bisected his field of vision.

Then another vertical line was drawn centered on that line, and then diagonal lines were quickly drawn in different directions.

“—What?”

I couldn’t understand it. It felt like I was going in circles. Soon, the landscape in front of me, covered in lines, turned black.

The colors reminded him of the abyss of space. Intrigued, Navarrozze began to walk slowly toward it. A voice echoed from the darkness.

“Alas, it’s open, thank goodness.”

“What?”

Navarordze’s eyes widened. He had heard the booming voice before. Soon, two men stepped out of the darkness, and Navarordze froze in place as they approached.

“You people are—!”

****

[3rd and 5th units. Fire!]

Adeshan shouted. The reorganized detachment on the field opened fire. Support fire to aid Ronan in his fight against the King of Giants. The men whose eyes were cloudy were all those whose minds had been taken over by Adeshan.

Boom, boom, boom, all manner of projectiles and destructive magic were fired at the giants. It was quite a sight to see hundreds of chunks streaking across the sky. Most of them missed, but they were certainly keeping the giants in check.

“Foolish mortals. Stop resisting.”

“Futility.”

The giants, far from being condescending, were either avoiding the attack or defending themselves as best they could. Ronan’s blood was on them, and they couldn’t just go on a rampage at will.

Adeshan had invested every last drop of Ronan’s blood into the Starfleet, so its power was different than before. Those who happened to be hit staggered back, drooling in pain.

“umm—!”

[Don’t give them a breather. Units 1, 2, and 4. Fire!]

“I can’t quit right now–ewww.”

Blue blood splashed with each roar. Of course, the giants weren’t stupid, so they fired back. Shriek! Spears of light struck the ground, each with the power to annihilate an entire army.

[Stand your ground].

The detachments were outside of Asher’s barrier to intercept, leaving them vulnerable. But instead of spreading his forces out, Adeshan kept them close together.

Sensing that the windows of light had come within range, she looked back at the Savior and said, “I’m sorry.

“Please.”

“I know.”

Gulping down a mana potion, the Savior reached out. A hexagonal shield formed out of thin air, blocking the spears of light.

Kaaaahhh! The explosion cast a backlight. They were far fewer in number than the entire Alliance, so even the wounded Savior was able to defend them.

“Are you okay?”

“Okay—I’m glad I could help.”

The Savior had somehow recovered and was squeezing every last ounce of energy out of his body. The grounded battleship Dyneha was back in action. Dozens of beams fired from all corners of the crater held them at bay.

“My daughter is—hasn’t she caught it yet?”

“Yes. We’re having trouble catching up to them because of their erratic movements, but we’re forming a siege line, so it shouldn’t take long.”

“Okay—cool, I’ll leave that part to you.”

The Savior nodded. For now, the greatest task for those on the surface was to capture Iriel and disable his powers. Trusting that Ronan would inevitably slay the King of the Giants.

‘What a great guy.

Ronan glanced down and smirked. A hundred thousand people were moving in an orderly fashion. If the size and precision of their movements were any indication, they were better than sane.

“Well, he used to command a million people.

The warlord’s skills had not deteriorated at all from his previous life. If anything, he had improved in his fourth life, where he was only allowed to observe and learn. Suddenly, the king’s voice came from up ahead.

“You, you cowardly mortal—!”

“Oops. You called.”

Ronan looked up. The King of Giants was growling, breathing heavily.

The wounds on his neck and chest still oozed a trickle of blue blood. They had healed a lot compared to the first time, but they were deep, and it seemed to be difficult to heal them.

What’s more, the king’s body was marked with dozens of unseen scars. All of them had been carved by Ronan after the second battle began.

Blood was dripping nonstop from the small wounds. He’d been too busy tending to the wounds in his neck and chest to attend to the others. Ronan hadn’t been able to keep his sword in the less defensible places since he’d found out.

“This is how you catch a big animal.

Blood loss was fatal, even for the giant race. Ronan’s new way of fighting was so effective that it angered the king. He spread his eight wings at once and shouted.

“Don’t play games, stand up for yourself! Where’s your dignity?”

“I gave it to the dog.”

“How dare you—”

The king was about to say something. Ronan pointed the tip of his sword at the king. The glow of the sunset deepened, and the pull grew stronger.

Pow! Ronan struck again as he shot toward the king. The king, stunned, could not move as swiftly as before. The long-tailed Ramancha flew past, slashing at the king’s calf.

“Eek!”

“Oh, same spot.”

Ronan, seeing the blood rush, whistled. The king was indeed strong, but the nature of a battle was to be decided by unpredictable variables. Ronan, who had lightly dodged the king’s sword strike, opened his mouth.

“The moment you allowed that attack, it was over. You lost.”

“You’ve crossed the line of indulgence. You can’t be serious!”

Ronan struck again before the king could finish his sentence. This time, blood spurted from his elbow.

“Kaaaagh-!”

The king, who had been attacked in different parts of his body in succession, roared. It was ridiculous, but at this rate, he could really lose. His patience was at its limit, and he raised his greatsword high and shouted, “I’m going to win!

“Oh, well, then, I’ll destroy what you’re trying to protect! Try to stop me!”

“What?”

Ronan’s eyes widened. Something was wrong with the line. WHOOSH! Particles of light converged from all directions, swirling around the great sword. He shouted.

“Damn it, stop!”

It didn’t take much to realize what the king was trying to do. Like Ronan, he had changed tactics and was trying to blow up the forces on the ground first.

“Damn, that’s a skill I’ve been saving.

Ronan twisted his lips. Asel and Adeshan were holding, but if something like that fell, there was a good chance they wouldn’t make it. He caught his breath and gripped the hilt of his sword.

“You get one chance.

I felt like I had to pull out all the stops. It was originally intended to be used in situations where I was sure I could finish, but I had no choice.

He gauged the distance and was about to activate his entire body’s mana. The clouds covering the sky exploded and scattered.

“What the hell?!”

Ronan cursed angrily as a wide, dark shadow fell over the land.

Ronan felt the hairs on the nape of his neck stand up, and he turned his head. Across the starry night sky, a red dragon, so huge it made the Giant King look small, swooped down across the wind.

“Navardose—!”

“What?”

Ronan’s eyes widened. It was the unmistakable Mother of Fire. Gathering his strength, the king turned his head a moment too late. The Navardoze swooped down like an eagle on its prey and struck him in the chest with its hind foot.

[This is their leader!

“Curious!”

Navarordze cried out. Blood gushed from the king’s mouth. Unfortunately, the spot where he was struck coincided with Ronan’s deep cut.

Navardoze plummeted to the ground, seemingly crushing the king. The earth shook with a roar that could have been the sound of an erupting volcano. Ronan, who had recovered his strength, let out a sigh.

“He was really alive—!”

It was a miraculous survival. Despite Adeshan’s words, Navardoze was not dead. Ronan was marveling at her speed and competence. Adeshan, stunned, muttered something low.

“I haven’t sent the—stars yet.”

We hadn’t assigned anyone to Navarordze yet, because we wanted to calm him down first. I didn’t know what was going on.

“Your Majesty—!”

The giants attacking the earth were taken aback. Just as they were about to rush to the king’s aid. A two-pronged beam of light rushed from behind the clouds and swept through the giants.

“Huh!”

“Kuck—!”

Cries of agony erupted. Most of them had lost their cover in the battle with the ground forces. The rays, intense enough to turn night into day, burned the giants’ skin to a crisp.

A man and a woman’s voices rang out from the sky above Navarrozze.

Fortunately-]

[I guess it’s not too late].

“This voice is.”

It was a tone I never forgot. Soon, a behemoth that rivaled Navarordze appeared. Its golden scales, covered in scars, were still awe-inspiringly beautiful. Ronan couldn’t help but swoon at the sight of the two-headed dragon, which he hadn’t seen in so long.

“The Dragon King—!”
