Chapter 2

Chapter 2

“Ho-ho.”
When Akram was explained, Ming Hu was impressed. Arkram was also a very good place to start. In fact, if you weren’t in a magic-based profession, Akram was the best place to start.
“…Huh?”
As Ming Hu browsed through the list of villages, he couldn’t help but pause.
-You have selected the town ‘Himise’.
-The town of Himise, one of the many towns in the Empire. Its specialty is the skins of the bears that live around the town.
-Would you like to start in the town of Himise?
“…”
After hearing the explanation, Ming Hu was speechless. He didn’t really understand why the description included one of the empire’s many villages, let alone why the specialty was bear pelts, which were native to most of the region. There was one more problem.
“It’s really coming…”
Himise’s location on the map was in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by a very large mountain range.
“…Huh?”
Shaking his head at Himise’s brilliant choice of location, Ming Hu quickly blurted out a counter-question.
“That mountain range is…”
The reason for Minghu’s counter-question was the mountain range surrounding Himise. The mountains surrounding Himise were all too familiar.
“Isn’t that, uh, that?”
Ming Hu was stunned by the information that popped into his head.
“V, the Bross Mountains…”
It was one of the few pieces of information about the hunting grounds that was publicly available, and Ming Hu had memorized it well. The mountain range surrounding Himise was clearly the Broth Mountains, which were said to be home to a jungle of boss-level monsters ranging from level 100 to 500.
“What a town…”
It was a town that shouldn’t be there. It was a town you could never get out of. Himise was a trap, a town that would force you to delete your character and start over if you made it your starting town.
“…I’m kind of hooked.”
But is it the Brose Mountains? Or was it the description of a town that couldn’t even fit on a normal axis? Oddly enough, Mingfu liked Himise.
gulp
Ming Hu swallowed hard. He knew he shouldn’t do this. If he looked at it rationally and dispassionately, Himise was a town that should never have been started. Surely, if he chose Himise as his starting town, he would have to delete his character and start over.
“Ugh.”
Reason was telling me to gather information and start at Marverian, where I was going to start, but my heart was telling me to start at Himise, where I should never have started.
“…”
Ming Hu was torn. Even as he thought about it, he realized that this should be a no-brainer and that he should start with Marverian, but something kept nagging at him.
‘It’s going to be kind of creepy.’
Starting in Marverian seemed like it would be a bit of a chore. No, to be honest, it was a combination of both, but I was up for the challenge. A town in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by the Broth Mountains, full of boss-level monsters. There was something about starting in such a bad place that made me feel proud and excited to play.
“Anyway… I’ll just restart.”
If he lost this feeling during the game, he could simply delete his character and start over. Ming Hu finally made up his mind and opened his mouth to shout the keyword for the starting town.
“Here we go!”
-Start in the town of Himise.
Swoosh!
The town selection window disappeared with the word “Start”. My vision began to darken as my surroundings turned black.
* * *
The blackness was short-lived, and then it changed again.
“Hmmm.”
Ming Hu gulped at the new sight.
Sigh
Ming Hu quickly checked his surroundings. There were very basic furnishings around him: a table, chairs, and a bed.
“Is it an inn?”
The basic furnishings reminded me of an inn.
“No…”
But Ming Hu shook his head at the thought. This was the middle of nowhere, surrounded by the Himise and Broth Mountains. There could be no inn here that would cater to travelers.
“So it’s someone’s house.”
Sigh
Ming Hu finished muttering and turned to look at the door, which was firmly closed, as if opening it would reveal where this place was.
“Let’s check it out before we leave.”
But before he did, he checked his current state, and a thought made him open the character window.

The bonus stats given at character creation had not yet been distributed.
“What should I take…”
I had originally planned to play a magic-based class and distribute the stats accordingly, but this was Himise, not Marverian. I wasn’t sure if I would be able to play a magic-based class here or not, so I couldn’t distribute the stats accordingly.
“I’ll have to watch and take a picture later.”
It wasn’t necessary to distribute the bonus stats right away. Ming Hu thought about it, decided to distribute them later, and closed the character window.
Jumbled
Closing the character window, Ming Hu walked toward the door.
Yay!
Arriving at the door, Ming Hu opened it and stepped out.
“Are you awake?”
As Ming Hu opened the door, he heard a sound and looked toward the source of the voice. There stood an old man, a sturdy man of great age.
‘It must be an NPC…’
The old man was supposed to be an NPC, but it didn’t feel like an NPC at all. The graphics were very different from what I’m used to in virtual reality.
“I’m called Gadugu. I’m the chief of this village.”
Gadergu then introduced himself.
“It’s called Minghu.”
Ming Hu stared blankly at Gadagu, but Gadagu’s words brought him back to his senses.
“Haha.”
Gadagu laughed out loud at Myung-Hoo’s answer. And then he said
“You have a good name, by the way, you must be very puzzled right now, why you find yourself here, aren’t you?”

As he finished speaking, a quest appeared.
"It looks like this.
Ming Hu realized how the quest appeared and nodded, turning his attention away from the quest to look at Gadegui.
"Yes, I'm wondering why I'm here."
[You have accepted the quest].
As he finished speaking, the quest acceptance prompt popped up, and as if waiting for it, he began to speak.
"It was nothing short of a miracle that I found you."
Gadergu looks nostalgic as he reminisces about those days.
"I went to the mountains to gather herbs the other day, and I stayed out late into the night and got lost. I traveled from place to place, looking for a village, until I came to a clearing, where you were lying in the center of the clearing. I walked over to you and reached out to pick you up, and just then!"
Gadergu paused for a moment, then continued.
"A white light emanated from your body. And when it vanished, you and I were at the entrance to the village. It was a miracle indeed, for I was lost and wandering, and afterward I brought you back to Sippy's house, as you might have expected."
When he finished speaking, he turned back to Ming Hu and smiled faintly. At the same time, several messages appeared.
[You have completed the quest].
[Increased intimacy with the gardener].
[The relationship with Gadergu has risen to "trust"].
"Thank you."
Ming Hu turned away from the message and bowed his head in gratitude to Gadagu.
"No, if it weren't for you, I would have had a very hard time getting back to town. I'm rather grateful, by the way."
After pausing and looking at Ming Hu for a moment, Gadagu opened his mouth to speak again.
"Do you remember why you were lying in that vacant lot?"
At Gadagu's question, Ming Hu paused for a moment before answering.
"I don't remember anything.
"What do you remember before that? Do you remember anything at all?"
The chief said he found himself in a vacant lot, but the beginning of his life was in the chief's room. Naturally, he couldn't remember.
"Yes."
"Hmmm."
When Myung-Hoo replied that he didn't remember anything, Gadergu paused for a moment. He then opened his mouth to speak.
"Then you'll have to stay at my place for a while, I'm not very good at this, and this is all I can do to help you."
"No, thank you very much."
Apparently pleased with Ming Hu's answer, Gadagu smiled broadly. Then, as if suddenly remembering something, he opened his mouth again and spoke.
"Oh, by the way, I need to give you an introduction to the town, can you move now?"
